Millikin MBA students to present findings on a project that tracks domestic violence metrics in Macon County for 2023
WHAT: For the past six months, Millikin MBA students have collaborated on a donor-funded domestic violence prevention project to create a metrics system that tracks domestic violence statistics in Macon County for 2023. The results will be the most complete picture of domestic violence information and statistics for Macon County that has ever been researched. This metrics project is crucial to a larger domestic violence prevention effort being pursued community wide. WHEN: Tuesday, Dec. 12 at 6 p.m. WHERE: Room 207 of ADM-Scovill Hall on Millikin’s campus. OF NOTE: Domestic violence statistics are hard to track from agency to agency. The project has worked to connect information points from the different stakeholders in domestic violence reporting across Macon County. This is a partnership with Dove, Inc., which engages religious institutions, volunteers, and advocates seeking to coordinate efforts to address unmet needs and social injustices. Retired Decatur Police Department Lieutenant Shannon Gutierrez Seal has served as project liaison with Millikin and Dove, Inc. Nine Millikin Data Analytics MBA track students and three faculty members have worked on this project over four courses since June 2023. The project has been funded through a generous donation by Decatur resident Ed Bachrach.
